Mali Lošinj, tourist centre on the island of Lošinj, these days is officially a candidate for the Golden Flower of Europe, a prestigious international award for beauty and organisation of tourist destinations.Even though the winners of the race will be known in September of this year, the nomination itself is a great recognition because it confirms that this Kvarner island is in a small group of destinations which satisfy the criteria for the prestigious European award.

The visit of the international jury, which consists of the representatives of 12 member countries of AEFP/EFE association, was announced for June of this year, and the winners will be announced at the final ceremony in September in Cardiff, Great Britain.

Mali Lošinj, a well-known tourist destination on the north Adriatic island of Lošinj, the island of vitality, has 7,000 inhabitants and is the biggest city on Croatian Adriatic islands. At the end of 19th century, thanks to the sea, Mali Lošinj developed into a sea city and a centre of this island area, and the sea past and the influence of Lošinj captains are felt at every step even today.
