Beauties of Dalmatia even closer

The modern motorway network, which makes the tourist destinations in Croatia more and more accessible to the guests from entire Europe, has more kilometres since the end of 2008, which make Dalmatia even closer than before. At the end of the year, the construction of the new part of the motorway from Šestanovac through Zagvozd to Ravča 40 kilometres long.

With the opening of new kilometres of the motorway A1 leading from Zagreb to Split and continues to Dubrovnik, another demanding part of the motorway in Dalmatia was finished. Considering that the new part goes through attractive areas of Zabiokovlje, to many places along the way – Zagvozd, Vrgorac, etc., possibilities for a stronger development of tourism are opening.

The trip to Zagreb is that way shortened to four hours and tourists can come to Ploče and tourist destinations in Dubrovačko-neretvanska County more quickly. With the end of construction of this part, at the end of the year ten kilometres of a motorway from Ploče to the future knot Ploče I was constructed. At the knot, Dalmatia connects to the corridor 5c which goes through Hungary, Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina, and it connects Budapest with Osijek, Sarajevo and Ploče.

Besides the upcoming opening of those two parts, the tunnel Sv. Ilija through Biokovo is being constructed, whose finishing will make the area of Zabiokovlje even closer to the coast and in a traffic and tourist sense symbolically connected into a whole.
